JOB TITLE: Financial Analyst

SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our credit union team. In this role, you will work closely with the Manager to support critical financial operations, analysis, and reporting functions that maintain our organization's financial health and integrity.
As a Financial Analyst, you will help analyze financial data, prepare reports, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and contribute to ensuring regulatory compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Financial Reporting and General Ledger Management: Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring they are accurate and completed on time. Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.

Quarterly Call Report Completion: Prepare and submit quarterly call reports as required by regulatory agencies. Ensure that all data reported is accurate and submitted within the specified deadlines. Work closely with senior management and other departments to gather necessary information.

Accounting Practices and Procedures: Implement and maintain accounting practices that align with credit union policies, regulatory requirements, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Recommend improvements to accounting processes and practices to senior management.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of the credit union’s annual budget and financial forecasts. Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against the budget, reporting any significant variances along with recommendations for corrective action to senior management.

Cash Management: Oversee daily cash management, including cash flow analysis to ensure sufficient liquidity. Manage investment and borrowing activities in accordance with credit union policies.

Audit and Compliance: Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits and examinations. Ensure that accounting records and practices comply with state and federal regulations and internal policies.

Analyze Financial Performance: Conduct comprehensive analyses of the credit union’s financial performance, including reviewing income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow

Prepare Reports for Stakeholders: Develop and deliver regular financial reports for both internal stakeholders (such as department heads and the board of directors) and external stakeholders (including regulators and auditors), ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards.

Risk Management and Compliance: Assess and manage financial risks by continuously monitoring the credit union’s exposure to credit, market, liquidity, and operational risks. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards and develop strategies to address any areas of non-compliance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered. Minimum of 5 years of general accounting experience, with a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger structure.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems with several concrete variables in standard situations. Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate PPE as dictated by need, regulation, and labeling.
